VINTAGE
The high country of Orange delivered a very promising vintage in 2017. Spring-time vine and berry development was slow with even budburst and excellent flowering. Warm weather in January and February resulted in harvest starting for white varieties on 3 March 2017. Our location on the north slopes of Mount Canobolas provided protection against heavy Autumn rainfall allowing for the majority of harvest to be completed towards the end of March.

VINIFICATION
The Chardonnay is from the vineyard’s south-west block. The fruit was hand-harvested and delivered to the winery in the cool of the morning on 27 March 2017. Destemmed and crushed with brief skin contact prior to pressing. Put to French oak for fermentation with wild yeast. A further 8 months ageing on lees in French oak. Partial malolactic fermentation and fortnightly stirring of lees. Bottled on 17 January 2018.

STYLE
An abundant yet delicate palate with airy stone fruit and intense citrus flavours. Underlying hints of honeysuckle and flint. Integrated oak and stirring of the lees adds complexity and depth. A generous flavour profile, with fine acidity and crisp minerality. Fresh and bright with lovely drive and persistence of flavour. Refined, delicate and delicious.
