Single Vineyard Nebbiolo
2019

Lifted aromas of sour cherries and raspberries along with hints of wild herbs and violets. The palate is medium weight and has red cherry and cranberry fruit flavours along with savoury truffle characters and fine tannins.
VINTAGE
Winter 2018 was characterised by some record cold weather and lower than average rainfall. For the 2018-19 growing season conditions remained dry. Fortunately, there was enough surface moisture to ensure strong growth of both canopy and fruit.
January 2019 saw the continuation of hot and dry weather patterns with the Orange escaping the extreme hot weather that impacting other regions.
Harvest commenced in late February, signalling the start of a frantic vintage as all varieties, both white and red, seemed to ripen one after the other, if not all at once. Despite the rush to harvest and lower yields the quality was outstanding.
VINIFICATION
The fruit was hand harvested in April 2019 and immediately transported to the winery where it was de-stemmed to a small open fermenter and cold soaked for 3 days. The fermentation took place for 10 days with plunging by hand twice a day. Following this, it was gently pressed off and transferred to French oak barriques and puncheons. After 9 months of maturation the wine was blended and bottled in January 2020.
