Rowlee Syrah 2023
Raspberries, blueberries, and boysenberry compote adding an even deeper layer of fruit. Soft, full, and round entry with more berries and a subtle toasty oak background over juicy tannins and supple acidity.
In the cool climate region of Orange, Syrah grapes ripen more slowly, allowing for longer “hang time” and greater acid development. This can result in a lower-alcohol and leave you with just a touch a pepper, making for a more elegant, aromatic wine.
Vinification: Machine harvested by selective harvester, whole berries tipped into 3 tonne open fermenters and allowed to cold soak for 3 days and yeast inoculation added. The fruit was hand plunged and pumped over once a day to increase colour and tannin texture and pressed after 2.5 weeks of fermentation. After pressing the wine was transferred to older barrels to allow malolactic fermentation to occur, once completed the wine was sulphured and allowed to ,mature in oak for 11 months. The wine was then carefully racked from oak to tank, final bench trials - and sterile filtered for bottling.
